I've over crimped to the point of putting ripples or bulges in the cases. My heavy 44 loads I crimp right up to this point. You can get a little more crimp without damaging cases by putting a little case lube around the mouth before crimping.
You might use a dummy round to experiment to get the most crimp without case damage.
