I load IMR 4227 23.0 to 27.0 grains under a 500 grain CAST .459/500 Lee bullet. The velocity SHOULD be in the 1,000 to 1,300 fps range. I shoot this in a 1874 Uberti Sharps 'Quigley'. The barrel is half again the legnth of your Marlin. Anyway it will give you a starting point.
