Tar Shot and possibly others smith their shotguns this way,
and it can cut group size considerably. There's a downside.
The shotgun cannot be taken down easily for cleaning, storage or substitution of another part.

I've gotten good results not by pinning the bbl, but by removing all the slack in the takeup,so the bbl is immobilized in the receiver, effectively doing what the pinning does.

Pad the jaws of a large set of Channelocks or Visegrips and handtighten the mag tube cap. Then use the Channelocks to tighten the cap ONE,and only one, click further. More tightening can affect reliability, and will not reduce group size any more.

Now, you're ready to zero and test slugs.
