Have you considered a deer rifle on the AR frame?
The 6.5 Grendel will handle the same game out to within about 100 yards of what the 6.5x55, the .260 Rem, and 6.5 Creedmoor can do with the same barrel lengths.
The Grendel in a carbine format will handle was well as any of the 30-30 lever action rifles but has a trajectory more like the the .308 Winchester.
