Thanks for your input. Unfortunately, though, that ship has sailed, friend.

This essay is written largely with the intended audience being those who are NOT well informed of the issues, and as such, use of common terminology to make the point in the simplest manner possible is hardly fueling propaganda.

I address its origins as propaganda, but the fact of the matter is, if you're trying to have a discussion about current issues, insisting on using (conservatively) politically correct language causes more confusion than it does make any positive difference. In other words- "assault weapon" is politically INCORRECT language in conservative circles, but it is the term that most people recognize, and thus- the most effective choice for clear communication.

Like it or not, no one in this country is debating a "defense weapon" ban.
