Put half down on a Browning 1885 High Wall in 45-70 with the rest as layaway.
The next week I ended up in a torso and right arm cast (work accident) and spent basically 3 months stuck in my apartment. One of my helpers must have thrown out the layaway ticket while cleaning because I never found it again.
The owner of the gun store wouldn’t even look at his records because 90 days had passed without payment or communication from me and he’d sold the gun to someone else.
Admittedly I had other things on my mind but man do I regret not sending someone down there to make some payments.
