Buy the gun and give it a thorough cleaning as well as get a good a reasonably priced scope. Give it a try at the range and then evaluate the gun from there. There are a lot of simple things to try from there if things aren't up to par. Worst come to worst, you could end up needing a new barrel, although not very likely. Even if this is the case, it is a simple matter of letting Savage rebarrel it for you at a reasonable price. Chances are you will be surprised at how accurate the gun is.
