I did the same thing, probably in 4th or 5th grade (1957). I prepped the grenade by putting a cap (for a cap pistol) on the fuese head and cocking the striker which was held back as normal by the spoon and pin. When I pulled the pin it made quite an impression
...and I didn't get in any trouble for it at all.
