I agree with UtahHunting: it's stronger than it was several years ago. There are more and varied loads for it - I suspect it benefited from the realization that semi-autos were not the jam-o-matics they were thought to be up until the 1970s. In fact, I see more types of 380 hollow point than I do 38 Special, so I suspect some people have shifted their allegiance to the auto.
One real advantage to it over the 9mm is ammo availability during panic buys - I can find 380 ammo, but I can't find 9mm.
