Considering that Star went out of business permanently in 1997, they're not offering much of anything anymore.

Compact 9mm Stars are interesting pistols but they aren't Commanders in the strict and technical sense. There are a number of design differences, notably a pivoting rather than sliding trigger, no grip safety, and an external extractor. Furthermore, although they look superficially identical in most photos, B-series 9mm pistols are scaled down slightly from a M1911.

BTW the Star model you're discussing is the BKS, which was sold with and without the "Starlite" monikor. The BKM is basically the same pistol but without a mag disconnect. The BM is a BKM with a steel frame.
