LoL@Civil War Life. That is what I use when I want to shoot black powder.

The powders I have used are: Universal, 700-X, TiteGroup, FFFg and FFg.

Consult the powder manufacturers website AND a reloading manual. Both will give you the velocities you can expect from the load. (Look at their test Barrel length.)
