>> They sell their software CD-ROM for $250 which is a bit steep, any decent web programmer could replicate something similar. <<

A "web programmer" would not know where to begin. They could make an alike mock-up of the screen, but the technology to process the camera feed, locate the laser beam hit is not something they generally if ever deal with.

Software for $250 is cheap. Especially if it works well.

Given the hardware and the hardware specs I probably could write the software for something alike this.

Check the following links for systems alike the BeamHit 190:
http://laserlyte.com/Laser_Training_...LT-1/LT-1.html
http://laserlyte.com/Laser_Training_...RO/LT-PRO.html
http://laserlyte.com/Laser_Training_...B-1/TLB-1.html

http://www.laserdevices.com/index.cf...aster_Z_23.htm

One could buy:
LASER TRAINING TARGET TLB-1 MSRP: $199.95
PISTOL LASER TRAINER LT-PRO MSRP: $99.95
And spend a total of ~$300.00

However, does that truly give the "same" as the BeamHit 190? I guess that depends on personal preference and expectations.
