I started shooting HP rifle matches with a 1917 Enfield cut down as a deer rifle. Then I used the club's loaner Garand, then bought my own. I shot a lot of matches with that old rifle. I made a couple of side trips trying an M1 Carbine a couple of times and an AR clone once. Then I bought an M1A. It just feels best to me. I haven't been able to shoot HP matches for a while, but when I get back to it I'll be using the M1A.
