I have a type 54, and I'll tell ya, it's never had ANY problems. That thing is probably the funnest gun to shoot that I own next to my brother's Baikal Makarov. Don't let the naysayers sway you, it's a serious gun in a serious caliber. It is more uncomfortable to hold than my 1911, but changing the grips out would probably remedy the situation. I don't care enough to do so as it is my last ditch gun hidden in a book case. I'm reaching for the Mossberg 9 times out of 10.
