I'll fully agree that a slower powder will give hotter loadings, there's no doubt about that.

But 231 has wide applications in lighter loads for Magnum and other large capacity handgun loads.

I use 231 routinely in my .357 Mag., and I've put together a VERY nice 231 load with a 215-gr. lead bullet in my .41 Mag.
