I personally don't care to make the pursuit of ammo a full-time endeavor. And since 100 rounds is just about the minimum you are going to shoot at the range, how much time and money do you want to spend chasing .380 ammo? Gotta go with 9 mm for a multi-purpose gun. You might also consider, as I have been recently, that you can pay for a Beretta Neos (.22) for plinking in the savings from just a little over a thousand rounds of ammo. Gets pretty tempting if you go to the range more than a couple of times a year.
