What's the deal with Remington bullets!?

I opened up my newly-purchased bag of .429 dia 180gr Remington JHP bullets only to discover that they're not the classic 'scallop' pattern JHP as their factory bullets! William Thomas Foxtrot!?

I specifically bought these Remingtons because i wanted to experiment with different defensive loads for my Taurus snubby using them...They look exactly like Federal's 180gr and 240gr JHP.

A phone call to Natchez where i bought them confirms that Remington reloading components differ slightly from factory.

Can anyone else verify this for me? I wanted the scalloped-pattern JHP bullets.

Another reason is specific loads require specific bullets for certain cartridge combinations in loading manuals - except Lee

I can post comparison pics if you don't know what i'm talking about.

Anyone else roll their own with Remington or Federal .429 JHP bullets?
