How expensive can one get?
Hard to say. There's likely always something you can do to drive up the price (engraving, etc.). But as far as custom guns, it seems that the prices level off once you get to around $2500; at that point you're getting about all the custom fitting, quality parts, and proper attention from a good gunsmith that a gun can honestly use. At that point you can get your pick of the Ed Brown, Springfield Custom, or most others on the market.
