I have them on Mossberg 500/590s, Winchester 1200/1300s, and about a dozen 870s. Been using them for years, and never had a bit of trouble with them.

I don't consider them a waste of $$$, I consider them a very useful accessory on a serious shotgun.

YMMV of course...
