Here are a few poorly done photos of a 7.62 2A1 that I'm scoutifying.
As you can see, it matches the contour of the receiver quite well and is mounted to the barrel using epoxy, or better a steel reinforced expoxy (SteelBed or JB Weld).
The only drawback I've found to it is that it's not a true to spec. Picatinny rail, the spacings are incorrect.
