For a hunting scope in your price range I'd look at a Nikon Monarch 2-8x32, a Weaver Grand Slam 3-10x40, a Bushnell Elite 3-9x40, or a Weaver K4 4x38 in that order, but the best deal out of that group is the Grand Slam.
