Agreed. The .243 has been left behind for that reason.
However, a lady I knew about a "hundred years ago" (an excellent shot) placed 4 rounds of .243 in the heart lung zone (about and 8-10" group) in a running mule deer at about 100 yds. It ran
at least 200 yds after the first hit.
I think maybe
skill doesn't help the .243 very much.
