Microspheres (tiny glass balls) and 5 minute epoxy works as well as anything I have tried. You can make a paste with the glass (mostly glass with enough epoxy to bond it together) and the whole job is finished in a few minutes. Johnsons paste wax works great as a release.
Not sure about J-B weld but if it was me I would still use a filler like glass balls.
