The U.S. Army has awarded a new contract for up to 100,000 Beretta M9s. See story at
http://www.gunsandammo.com/2012/09/1...or-beretta-m9/. According to that story, the Army issued a press release last week. I had not seen anything but maybe I missed it.
Anyway, an order for the first 4,600 guns has already been delivered. The guns will be manufactured at Beretta's Maryland facility. While arguments can be made for other service pistols, the Beretta has seemed to provide good service to the Army and there is already built-in knowledge and logistical support for the pistol.
