Stevens made many different model rifles over the years. It's impossible to say what your friend's rifle may be without pictures and without knowing the markings on it. Chances are good, though, that if it's not a Favorite, it's a Crackshot 15.

The .25 Stevens rimfire cartridge was, for many years, very popular.

Attempts were made to convert some of these rifles to various .25 caliber rimfire cartridges.

Your firiend would need a chamber cast to see exactly what has been done to it. It could have been converted for one of the long .25 centerfires, such as the .25-25, or it could be a wildcat based on one of those, or a similar, cartridge.
