Hodgdon's load data lists CFE 223 as giving the best velocity for the 8x57 with a 150 gr bullet. You could try just sticking with the starting weight of 54.0 gr. The listed velocity for that charge is a respectable 2848 fps. I have never shot 150's out of my Mauser but I'd say recoil would be comparable to a .30-30. The odds that your Mauser will shoot a 150 gr bullet accurately is 50/50 at best

H335, H4895, and BL-C(2) would also be worth a try
