Lately I've really liked my RCBS 38-150-SWC over 8 grains of Alliant Power Pistol in my S&W model 28. You could probably use any 150 - 158 grain SWC over that charge.
I've had pretty good luck with 17 grains of 296 under the same bullet, but it's a bit more recoil.
