I'm in the same boat. One other I have been looking at was a base model Tisas 1911 made in Turkey. It's $399 new at Bud's with great reviews from everyone, including the staff there. It's not as established as something like the RIA but who knows - i don't think the guys at Bud's would intentionally steer us awry.
