The real questions is, "What is better for you?"

It sounds like you just want to take it out of the box and hunt it with. To that extent, the Marlin is probably a better choice since they tend to be a little more accurate out of the box.

If you wanted to barbie it up with high-cap mags, fancy parts, and black foldy bits, the Ruger would be the way to go.
