10 ga's are good turkey guns if you dont mind haulin' the weight around.
I've got a 10ga Pardner that I "customized" into a turkey gun. Min has a much shorter barrel than the one you described though (18" or 20")

It's definately a shoulder cannon, but it thumps on both ends
