Yes. It was designed to displace moisture to prevent corrosion on the outer skin and inner tanks of the Atlas missile. It was never designed to be a lubricant.
Its design is such that it leaves behind an oily residue when it dries. That's why it has the side benefit of preventing squeaks in door hinges (and gumming up firearm parts). That's about the useful extent of its lubricating properties.
