They are around. The Spanish Government converted some of their M43 and 1916 model Mausers by rebarreling/chambering for 7.62 x 51, and adding new front and rear sights. The story is that they were training rifles for the new, at that time, Cetme that Spain was adopting.
The 1916 conversions are small ring and referred to as an FR-7. They look similar to the FR-8, but with a straight stock.

Check Gun Broker or Auction Arms. Usually a few there.
