Sometimes the slide stop sticks too far into the frame and occasionally the nose of the next bullet to come up in the magazine will "bump" it into the lock position. To check: remove the slide, put the slide stop back in the frame and insert loaded magazine. Check the clearance between the nose of the bullet and the tab of the slide stop. If it touches, carefully file the back of the tab, a little at a time until it clears. Sometimes you need to hold slight downward pressure on the slide stop and manually push rounds out of the magazine and up the feed ramp. Feel for the next round coming up in the mag to bump the slide stop.
When filing, remove very little metal at a time and test often. If you goof and take off too much, you can't put it back. Replacing the slide stop is the only cure for that. Remember slow and easy does it.
