I tried like heck to get the one off of mine, but it
appears to be an integral part of the mechanism..
Perhaps some smithy with a better working knowlege of Stoeger's SxS lockwork can chime in on whether or not the auto-safety may be removed on them without permanent damage.
<side note>
when i removed the auto-safety in my Baikal, the trigger pull was dramatically improved
