The powder will work. You need .454 balls, a powder measure, a powder flask,
Crisco for over ball lube or either over powder wads. Not sure what size caps it will take. You may have to try both sizes and different brands to see what works best. The rifle will take #11 so that's a good place to start. You will find a nipple wrench and a good set of hollow ground screwdrivers beneficial. Don't use petroleum products in the bore or chambers. Use vegetable based lubes like olive oil or Balistol. Cleanup is easy with soapy water and complete disassembly every time it's used isn't necessary. If I left anything out I'm sure somebody will chime in with it before long.
