The A-5 pattern shotguns made by Remington & stamped with the Browning logo during WWII while the FN plant was occupied by German forces, were Remington Model 11's with letter-prefixed SN's.

They are referred to as "American Brownings"; the 12ga's had SN's ranging from B5000 to B43129. ( 20ga's had a "B" prefix, 16ga's an "A")

The OP's A-5 reportedly has a 6-digit SN w/o a letter prefix.
