Since the Dreyse was adopted in 1841, it probably had one of the longer service lives during that period. The 1871 was replaced by the 1888 to be passed out for the 1898.

I used to love being able to hit hard at 1000 yards. As I get older I find hitting a mini ram at 200 yards with the 22 oddly more satisfying.
