The warnings are no doubt due to the possibility that those cartridges might not feed properly in a semi-auto, and might get jammed somewhere in the gun.
Since they are rimfires, just about anything that hits the back of the rounds could set them off, whether they are in the chamber or not.
Loading them one at a time, by hand, should be ok, though.
