A pump can, indeed, be just as fast, even faster.
It all depends on the situation.
I've seen quite a few pump masters win overall at steel and pin matches.
As long as they don't screw up and short stroke.
But, for us normal folks, the auto loader does make life easier.
Except, of course, when they don't auto load.
But that's another can of worms.
