Most straight walled rifle cases are not straght. They are tapered, and require lube even with carbide dies. Two examples that I reload are .45-70 Gov't., and .30 Carbine. The dies are carbide, though if I try to run an unlubed case into them, it takes way too much force. I lightly lube them, then either wipe it off, or tumble them for an hour in the vibratory tumbler.
