I never bought into the whole scandium (the amounts are so small, 98% of the darn thing is plain aluminum) uproar. I haven't heard of any wearing out, but I have heard of many more aluminum frames wearing out than steel ones. I have also noticed that the aluminum frames seem to loose up more (especially in the slide to frame fit).
