this doesnt necessarily mean it can handle 3" shells. when a shell is measured its measured after the crimp is opened. so a 3" shell will easily slide into a 2 3/4" chamber, but if you shoot it it will build up alot more pressure because the plastic will be opened into the cone, and that can be very unsafe.

as for the way to find out what chamber length you have, im not sure. i looked online at a hunter safety site and it said if your not sure the best bet is to take it to a gunsmith and have him tell you.
