TS, Most likely you will end up getting the best results with a 140 gr. "QUALITY" bullet in your .280. I will tell you that I loaded a batch of 150 gr. Nosler Partitions for my nephew in new Remington brass using 51 gr of IMR 4350 using CCI 200 primers back in 1995 when Nosler projectiles were in short supply.
He is using a Browning A Bolt. He will not let me tinker with his load to this day!
