Ah, ok I get ya. The higher sights are to clear the optic. The gun is built for competition so if that's not your thing the gun might not be either. You could get a regular pro model and the only thing you'd lack is the optic. Also the newer M&Ps are shipping with better triggers, I have two of them.

My guess is your concern for sights that extend backwards as with typical M&P sights. But there are options like Meprolight which do not do this, so not all hope is lost. The idea that they're going to retool to change this is probably a bit far fetched.
