I just tried mine out and it does the same thing. I guess I never noticed it before since I never pull the hammer half way back then bring it back down. As far as the loading gate method, whenever I finish loading up a revolver, I always rotate the cylinder until it locks. So I never noticed it that way either. Anyway, there isn't anything wrong with yours, it's just the way they work.
