The good things about a .357 Sig are these.

1. While more expensive that 9mm, it is more powerful. Some like that for SD. The .357 Sig is used by quite a few PDs, local, state, and federal.

2. For Glocks and Sigs you can get a .40 barrel and just drop it in. Works either way. Even the mags work. Maybe even other .357 Sigs do that.

3. Practice with 9mm factory or .357 Sig is expensive. So

a) reload,
b) get an AACK unit (if it's a Glock) and practice alot wth .22
c) again if a Glock, get a Lone Wolf 9mm replacement barrel and vola! You have the best of both worlds.

In fact, with the chancy ammo market, you can get a Glock with a .40 barrel, .357 Sig barrel, 9mm barrel (and some 9mm mags), and a AACK .22 unit (with some .22 mags) and you have a four cartridge gun! That way, if the ammo situation goes south, you have a much better chance of finding some ammo for your gun!
