The case is marked .38 and 85 (I presume the year). It fits pretty well in the cylinder hole with about 1/16" beyond, that matches up with the bore when trigger is pulled and fired. It is clearly longer than a .38 special. Must be one of the other .38's but haven't tried to look it up yet.
