I don't have my SCSW handy, but my 686 is a dash-3 variant, and it is most decidedly a square-butt. Of course, it's also a 6-inch barrel.
Now I'm curious if all the RB L-frames started with the dash-4's or if both RB's and SB's were available.
After I bought a late 90s/early 2000's vintage Model 657/.41 Mag, I was genuinely surprised to find that it had a RB grip frame. It also has a 6-inch barrel. I believe it's a 657-4, but I'd have to check that to confirm. It's pre-lock, but with the updated cylinder stop that is part of the frame rather than the pressed-in notch.
