The trigger isn't for everyone, but compared to other double action triggers, it's a much easier pull albeit slightly longer. It took me some getting used to but I'm pretty good with it now.

For what it's worth I wouldn't even consider swaping calibers, I would just buy another gun. Buying another frame (bigger or smaller) is pretty cheap at about $70, but thats as far as I would go if the standard (medium) frame was too big for me. I put a Houge handall grip sleve on mine and even with the palm swell it's still comfortable even with smaller hands.

So far it's eaten 147gr Hydra-Shocks and a ton of FMJ without issue. I inherited mine, but at the price point they are at now ( as opposed the the steep price when they came out) I would purchase one. The trigger is just unlike on the market IMO.
