Good luck. Hopefully, it will be something minor.
The thing that got me interested in this thread is that I too have a Savage 340C. Mine is chambered in .22 Hornet and I'm getting ready to put it up for sale. It's missing the ejector, but it still shoots and extracts just fine - you just have to roll the rifle over to eject the spent casing.
